A Christian Answer To Alcohol, Drug, & Substance Abuse

For The Addicted Seeking Freedom

BETHEL COLONY OF MERCY

We are a Bible-teaching ministry for those who are interested in a Christian approach to treating substance abuse and alcoholism. We teach the addicted that there is victory through Jesus Christ and the truths of the Bible. Our addiction treatment center offers classroom teaching, workbooks, audio tapes, personal counseling, and worship services. Bethel’s treatment center is primarily designed to produce in each person a more effective lifestyle in which he allows Jesus Christ to take control of his life to achieve victory over addictions.

SUBSTANCE ABUSE MINISTRY

Looking for a free (except for a minimal entry fee) drug and alcohol rehab with a faith-based approach using the Bible and Christian principles in counseling? Then, Bethel Colony of Mercy, located in Lenoir, North Carolina, is the place for you. With only an entry fee of $350.00, Bethel Colony is a 65-day residential program that teaches victory over sin through Jesus Christ and the Bible.

This is done through classroom teaching, audio tapes, counseling both at the Colony and online, homework, worship services, and work projects. Our program is designed to provide a vital context in which the students are encouraged to know Christ personally and to understand the practical outworking of the Word of God in meeting every need. Daily teaching, counseling, devotionals, guided personal Bible study and prayer provide the means by which these objectives are accomplished. This, combined with a disciplined schedule, healthful climate, nutritious food, and relaxing recreation, soon restores a measure of physical health and a more positive mental outlook. The students also participate in routine maintenance of the facilities, general upkeep of the grounds, and community projects. Bethel Colony’s program is primarily designed to produce in each student a more effective lifestyle in which he or she allows Jesus Christ to take control. Please read About Bethel Colony under Who We Are for more information.

TESTIMONIALS

I have personally seen the Lord use Bethel Colony of Mercy in a mighty way in the lives of so many, including myself.  As a former graduate, and now a pastor and Celebrate Recovery Ministry Leader, Bethel Colony has been a tremendous asset to our church over the past 15 years.  Sometimes a person needs more than just a Sunday morning message and a weeknight meeting.  Bethel Colony is a safe, Christ-centered ministry that I recommend to anyone needing a spiritual transformation.

I can’t begin to express my gratitude for Bethel Colony of Mercy, as a Recovery Pastor, as a Dad and being in recovery for over 20 years myself it’s truly a blessing to see the life-changing impact that their program has on men and women bound by the chains of addiction. We have sent many to Bethel who have come out and used what they’ve learned to disciple others in their church and our Celebrate Recovery Program.
My own daughter was a raging alcoholic, living a life of sin and chaos…. But God! Something beautiful happened to her up on that mountain and she is forever changed and has become the woman of God He intended her to be. She’s now helping other women in their journey.
If you or someone you love is struggling and looking for freedom, it can be found in Christ Jesus at Bethel Colony of Mercy.

Going to Bethel changed my life in so many ways. They helped me understand the Bible and God’s word. Between the classes and personal counseling, I developed a relationship with God and he has rescued me. I developed lifetime friendships and they are always there for me. This is the only place I went for help, and it was the only place I needed. Thank you Bethel Colony.

T.J. graduated in January, ’22.  The chains of addiction have been broken, being at Bethel has truly changed her life around.  She is working, she volunteers helping autistic children with horse therapy, she continues to stay in the Word, she goes to church with her family, she stays in contact with friends she made at Bethel daily and they all hold each other accountable.

Bethel equipped me with spiritual tools to know how to be successful in life. This place has lit the spiritual fire in my soul again.  I learned who I was in Christ; more than a conqueror!

The ministers are truly concerned with every student’s success.  Preachers and counselors have been in shoes that were once not walking with Christ but now are.  You cannot break the bonds of addiction without Jesus Christ.

Awesome teaching, great balance of teaching, structure, and discipline.  The application of Biblical teaching to real life – character, marriage, fatherhood, etc…Only place I’ve ever been with any substance to the teachings.

We are in a fierce daily battle. That’s true here at Bethel Colony of Mercy and in your life too. In dark nights of a soul it’s tempting to give up. That’s EXACTLY what Satan wants! But we will not! Why? Because our walk with the Messiah is step-by-step and a long narrow road. Each new day has a faithful promise of God’s mercy and the power at work of the RESURRECTED Jesus! He will never fail us, disappoint nor walk away. His love is as real as a brutal cross and empty tomb. Look up! Redemption is as close as our desperate prayers. He “runs to the cries of the afflicted.” Amen. Lamentations 2:22-23 NKJV22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.#ineedgrace #lordhelpme #jesusneverfails #forgiveness ... Bethel Colony Of Mercy
One of the many ways people bless Bethel Colony of Mercy is through donating clothes. They are frequently dropped off unexpectedly and come for different reasons. A move. Sizes outgrown. Changes in life circumstances. Death. Sometimes we learn about a person by what’s in a donation box, like one recently filled with many tee shirts. We could see the person must have loved Chevrolets. Shirt after shirt boldly proclaimed that! But it was also likely someone who came to the end of a cancer battle or knew someone who did. “Race For The Cure.” “Finish The Fight.” “Survivor.” Shirts were like fabric billboards shouting these messages of a personal battle. It was a powerful reminder for the brevity of life. We teach the men and women here at Bethel that one bad choice can prove terminal. Sadly that happens every day in America and increasingly. So we faithfully press ahead bringing health, hope and healing. We depend daily on your faithful prayers and financial support. Thank you for standing with us! Yesterday afternoon l had the privilege to sit with Pastor Ritchie at his round kitchen table. 92 years of life gave perspectives on hearing from and trusting God, obedience, practical Christian living, deliverance from spiritual bondages and the everlasting love of Jesus. He wanted to eat freshly ripened pears, prunes and have me sample his special homemade pumpkin pie. The secret is, he uses a little molasses! We laughed, prayed, read scriptures, wept and encouraged each other. When you look at Bethel Colony of Mercy and its steady 75 year history, we are standing on the shoulders of men like Don Loss and Paul Ritchie who have TRUSTED GOD. Now it’s our turn to “run to the battle” behind the leadership of Pastor Pruitt and his emerging team. Pray for Pastor Ritchie. He has wrist surgery this morning. For anyone dealing with addictions, complacency is deadly. At Bethel Colony of Mercy we tell the men and women it’s a daily battle to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. We cannot rely on yesterday’s victories to help us in todays’s fierce fight! And, we must nurture the passionate love of our Savior we had in that transforming moment we said “Yes!” to God’s invitation for a new life. Before sunrise while walking to the office l took this picture. It made a strong impression on my heart. The illuminated hope of the resurrection was framed against a lamp empty of any light. God said if we don’t keep our love kindled with the hot fires of humble gratitude and repentance He will remove our beacon and platform for ministry. That’s sobering. Let’s all make Jesus “worth the knowing” again today! Revelation 2:2-5 NKJV2 “I know your works, your labor, your [a]patience, and that you cannot [b]bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars; 3 and you have persevered and have patience, and have labored for My name’s sake and have not become weary. 4 Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. 5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent.#repent #firstlove #lovenow ... Whenever our pastors stand behind the pulpit at Bethel Colony of Mercy it’s for one vital purpose. God’s truth and the life-changing applications of scripture are the ONLY message. The world has no lasting solutions to offer anyone struggling with addictions. But Jesus came to seek, heal and save the lost. For 75-years our convictions and proclamations have never changed. And by God’s grace they never will. His timeless word always accomplishes its mission. Our confidence comes from that unshakable truth! 2nd Timothy 4:2 NKJV2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. #lordchangeme #godispower#yourwordistruth #bible ... See MoreSee Less
